Out of Canada, Japan, Costa Rica, and Sweden, the top ranked economies by other presenters, I believe that Costa Rica is the best economy of the world. I think what really matters is life satisfaction. Of these four countries, Costa Rica ranked first. Also, Costa Rica is adequately good in every criteria in our powerpoint.

The article “Watching China whizz by” from The Economist states that although Japan’s economy had been the second after that of United States, China’s economy is likely to be bigger that Japan’s this year. This was expected; however, China’s economy had risen very quickly, shocking the whole world. Japan, unlike that of China, is less likely to face growing economy. In fact, it will be “lucky if its economy grows by 1% a year.”

One reason Japan’s economy will not grow much is Japanese culture “nourishes zombies.” Young executives abstain from presenting their good ideas. In addition, they fear to correct their predecessors’ mistakes because retiring presidents serve as chairmen or advisers.

In order for Japan to keep its economy growing, it needs a dramatic reform. Unless there are changes to the country, Japan will move further down the rank.

"Economics is not about things and tangible material objects; it is about men, their meanings and actions."
